The new BMW G 650 GS - an enduro which guarantees the most laid back form of driving pleasure. Get on and off you go.
Why not? This is the motto of the G 650 GS. Whether in town or on the gravel track: on this machine you can handle any terrain and you get your full money's worth when it comes to riding pleasure.
The G 650 GS continues the success story of the BMW Motorrad single-cylinder engines. Its power unit offers an impressive 35 kW (48 bhp) at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 60 Nm at 5000 rpm. And in terms of fuel consumption the machine is truly sensational, using just 3.2 l of regular petrol over 100 km*. Beginner motorcyclists can even restrict the output to 25 kW (34 bhp).
The ride feel of the G 650 GS is a thrill in all situations. Whether on or off the road, the well-proven, reliable chassis with central spring strut on the double-sided swing arm provides a crisp ride feel. The new machine underscores its membership of the enduro family with its seating position as well as an impressive 170 mm of spring travel at the front and 165 mm at the rear. Nonetheless, the moderate standard seat height of 780 mm and the option of a lowered suspension make this riding experience widely accessible.
The G 650 GS is robust, powerful and yet still extremely light at 192 kg. It is ideal for beginners, not least due to its low fuel consumption and simple handling. What is more, its slim appearance and athletic stature give it a youthful and typically enduro-style design which stands for uncomplicated riding fun and pure pleasure. The paint finish is a real eye-catcher too, whether in hot-blooded orange-red or pure aura white.
The new BMW enduro's fittings include comfortable hand protectors, an aluminium engine guard, steel crash bars and practical Vario cases.
Special equipment features make the machine a tick safer: a centre stand offers enhanced standing stability and ABS prevents the tyres from blocking.
Those interested can get a foretaste of the new G 650 GS when it is presented at this year's EICMA from November 4th - 7th before it goes into serial production from 2011. Experience riding fun at first hand and be inspired - why not?
